Sadomba still suspended despite “serving” ban

Edward Sadomba will not be available for selection this afternoon against Herentals despite being ‘barred’ from playing in the Uhuru Cup final because of a red card he received on Match-day 3.

The Dynamos skipper was reportedly disallowed to take part in Thursday’s game versus Highlanders as he was under a suspension but the Premier Soccer League has disowned the match and insisted that Sadomba is still suspended and will serve his one-match ban today.

According to NewsDay, PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare said: “Let me make it clear that the Independence Trophy match has nothing to do with the PSL. It’s a Zifa thing.

“We got a request to have the two teams play in the Independence Trophy final, and we allowed them to take part in the match, but that does not mean it is a PSL match. So according to PSL Sadomba hasn’t served his suspension.”

The decision by the PSL is a blow to Dynamos whose expectations were that their influential captain would play a part in today’s match at Rufaro Stadium.
