Mutuma targets national team call-up

DRC-based forward Roderick Mutuma is eyeing a national team call-up following a good spell at his club FC Lupopo.

Mutuma who moved to the Central African country at the beginning of the year has scored seven goals in eight games and according to H-Metro, he now dreams of a national team call-up as the Warriors prepare for the Cosafa and Afcon tournaments respectively.

He last featured for the Warriors in 2016 at the CAF Chan tournament.

“I believe everyone wants to play for the Warriors because it’s a blessing to contribute towards the nation.

“In the near future I hope to get a Warriors call-up,” he said.

The 30-year-old forward recently helped his team break a long-standing jinx against rivals TP Mazambe, scoring a solitary goal which ended an 11-year winless run in the tie. He has credited Kalisto Pasuwa and John Nyikadzino whom he says had faith in him.

“You know it’s not easy considering where I have come from, but I credit it to working hard and a few coaches who had faith in me.

“Kalisto Pasuwa always encourages me to keep my head up and this has helped me in every decision that I have made in life.

“Also not forgetting my former coach John Nyikadzino who helped to bring the best out of me though at times I would doubt myself,” he added.
