UEFA hands Neymar Champions League ban

PSG forward Neymar has received a three-match Champions League ban that will be effective next season following a social media outburst after his side was eliminated from the competition last month.

The Brazilian forward criticised the match officials on Instagram for awarding Manchester United a late penalty which saw them losing the tie and exited the Champions League in the Round of 16.

Neymar, who didn’t feature in the encounter, then took to social media to vent his anger, as he said: “This is a disgrace, they put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR.

“There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back!

“Go f*** yourselves!”

Uefa subsequently launched an investigation over his antics, with the Brazilian now set to miss three group stage games next season.
