Christian Eriksen ‘agrees’ to join Real Madrid – Report

Reports from Spain indicate that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join reigning European champions Real Madrid ahead of the 2019/20 season.

According to Madrid-based publication AS, a verbal agreement has been made between the 27-year-old Danish international and the LaLiga side for him to move to the Bernabeu.

AS also states that Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane sees Eriksen as a potential replacement for 2018 Balon d’ or winner Luka Modric (33) and Madrid are willing to improve the playmaker’s current €4m annual salary at Spurs.

Los Blancos are likely to make a squad overhaul at the end of the season after a trophyless season which saw them part ways with two managers before Zidane agreed to make a comeback and the Frenchman has made his intentions regarding transfers to club President Florentino Perez known.

Eriksen has one year left on his current Spurs contract, and Madrid are reportedly willing to pay close to £130m for his signature.
