Costa Nhamoinesu has announced his retirement from international football.

The defender who plays for Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic announced on Twitter on Wednesday night that he will not play for the Warriors squad again.

Nhamoinesu, 33, was part of the national team squad that qualified for the 2017 Afcon held on Gabon, and he played all three games at the tournament as Zimbabwe bowed out in the group stages.

He was expected to return to the squad for the 2019 qualifiers, but a fall out with the new coach Sunday Chidzambwa saw him missing out. Efforts to bring him back to the national colours hit a snag as the player snubbed all calls made to him.

The former Masvingo United player has retired after making eleven appearances and scored one goal which came in the 4-0 victory over Eswatini in 2016.
