My job is safe, says Madinda

Highlanders technical director Madinda Ndlovu insists his job is safe despite the team slumping into the drop-zone after match-day 5.

Madinda, who took over the reins at the Bulawayo giants last year, says his focus this season is on a top-four finish not on winning the championship.

Speaking to the press ahead of the home game against high-flying Hwange on Sunday, the 54-year-old said: “I have a contract with Highlanders, and it’s not just a piece of paper written.

“My contract states that I should compile a squad made up of mostly local boys in the first year and I achieved that and even finished 5th on the log.

“My second season’s target is a top-four finish and a piece of silverware which we already have (Uhuru Cup). The championship is expected in the third year.”

Bosso are yet to win a league game this term. They have lost twice and drew three games. They find themselves in the 15th position with just three points, and this run has made the fans to demand the axing of Madinda Ndlovu.

The Sunday’s match, meanwhile, will be played at Barbourfields and kick-off is at 3 pm.
