Highlanders defender out for six weeks after breaking arm

Highlanders defender MacClive Phiri will be out for at least six weeks after breaking his arm in the goalless draw against Herentals on Sunday.

Phiri was at the receiving end of a horrendous tackle by Innocent Benza in the 39th minutes and was subbed off before being rushed to the hospital.

Team Doctor Shepherd Khumalo said on the club’s official website that the player requires surgery and will be attended by a specialist.

“MacClive suffered a fracture of the right humerus. He needs to be operated as soon as possible, putting a stent. He is likely to be out for at least six weeks, and will see the specialist doctors tomorrow (today),” said Khumalo.

Phiri joins other two defenders Charlton Siamalonga and Bukhosi Ncube who are already nursing an ankle and a knee injury respectively.
