New week, new expectations, same old Highlanders

As the sun set at Babourfields Stadium yesterday, those clad in the famous black and white jersey, both the players and the fans, had more questions than answers as to what really the problem is at Highlanders.

Over seven and half hours of football have been played since Bosso last scored a goal in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and the wait continues for their first win this campaign.

To say that they are in a crisis is an understatement, and yesterday’s goalless stalemate with Herentals puts more pressure on Coach Madinda Ndlovu, who insisted after yesterday’s match that he has no clue why the team is failing to score.

“All the ingredients of football are put together, and at the end of the day, there is no one to eat the food. So that’s as simple as I can put,” Madinda said.

While the general consensus among Bosso fans is that Madinda has failed, the team’s impotence in front of goal may be beyond technical incapability.

Suspicions of sabotages and curses are beginning to ring alarm bells in the Tshilamoya camp as evident by what has been said by some players on social media and to journalists.

The club’s position on the table sums up what has been one of, if not the worst start to a league campaign in the club’s history and fans are slowly starting to press the panic button.

The belief going into the weekend round of fixtures was that the team would finally remember how to win, but it turned out to be a new week, with new expectations but same old performance.
