Zimbabwean forward still under radar of top clubs

English Premier League and Championship clubs are still pursuing the signature of Zimbabwean striker Macauley Bonne, according to TalkSport.com, a UK sports website.

The 23-year old has over the past two transfer windows been linked with top sides including Leicester City, Charlton Athletic, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.

The interest was reignited by the news Bonne has a £200,000 release clause, which will allow them to snap up the talented forward on the cheap.

But Leyton still want to keep the player and are believed to have offered their star striker an improved deal.

In an interview with the website last week, the Zimbabwean said he is fully focused on his future at Orient and is not thinking about any potential interest.

“Where else would I want to be? I’m the main man at the minute. My eyes aren’t being wondered whatsoever,” he said.

Bonne recently helped Leyton Orient gain promotion into League 2 after netting 23 goals in the campaign.

He is expected to play at the Afcon tournament once his passport is processed.
