Watch: Local football club’s players beat up match official after losing league encounter

A ZIFA Northern Region Division 2A side Irvine’s FC’s players lost their temper and charged at the assistant referee soon after their league match against Golden Eagles on Sunday.

The players were not happy with how the match official handled the encounter as they conceded two late goals to lose 2-0 to Eagles which is coached by former Warriors forward Gilbert Mushangazhike.

Security and other club officials had to restrain the players who were attacking the assistant referee.

The match was played at Derbyshire Stadium in Waterfalls.
