Darikwa reveals Warriors’ main target at Afcon

Nottingham Forest defender Tendayi Darikwa says the Warriors want to make the nation proud by achieving success at the 2019 Afcon in Egypt next month.

The Zimbabwe national team is currently in camp, preparing for the tournament which starts on the 21st of June and will face the hosts on the opening match-day.

In an interview with his English Championship club, Darikwa said: “We have to concentrate on our ourselves and stick to our game plan, if we are able to do that then there is no reason why we can’t be successful.

“Overall, we want to make the people of Zimbabwe proud, we play for them, and with the tremendous support not just in the stadium but also from home we want to give everything to make them believe in us.”

The Warriors have never advanced to the knockout stages of the competition in which they will be making their fourth appearance next month.

After the Egypt clash, Zimbabwe face Uganda on the 26th and their final group match will be against the Democratic Republic of Congo on 30th June.
