Muroiwa joins Zambian club

Former Dynamos defender Elisha Muroiwa has joined Zambian side Mufulira Wanderers on a two-year contract.

Muroiwa who recently left Tanzanian side Singida FC because of poor remuneration after the club lost its main sponsor, says he is excited with the move.

“I am happy to have moved to the Zambian league because it’s offering some competitive edge,” said Muroiwa.

“Look, European coaches are moving there, players from other African countries are moving there, so it pushes you to work even harder because there will be competition.

” The club I’m joining are former greats, but are facing challenges now, so it’s upon us especially the new players to push the club to regain its former glory. I will give my best so that the club succeeds.”

Mufulira Wanderers are one of the most successful clubs in Zambian history with 50 trophies including nine league titles. The club enjoyed most of its success from the 1960s up to 1997 when they last won their title.

Zambian greats which include Kalusha Bwalya once played for the Mighty Mufulira Wanderers.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwean players have been trekking northwards of late with the likes of Tafadzwa Rusike, Jimmy Dzingai, Ocean Mushure, Dennis Dauda, Zimiseleni Moyo, Winston Mhango and Nelson Maziwisa being lured by the better wages in Zambia.
