Warriors arrive in Egypt

Zimbabwe national team has arrived in Egypt for the 2019 Afcon tournament set to start on the 21st of June.

The Warriors left Asaba, Nigeria on Sunday evening, flying in the same chartered plane with Super Eagles team.

The two teams featured in an international friendly match on Saturday as part of their final preparations for the tournament. The game which was played in Asaba ended in a goalless draw.

The Warriors are unlikely to play another competitive game before the start of the competition as the friendly match with Ghana, initially scheduled to take place in the Middle East on the 16th of June was never made official.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe are in Group A along with Uganda, DRC and the hosts, Egypt. The team will camp in Cairo during the 2019 Afcon and is expected to hold its first training session in North Africa later in the day.

Warriors Final Squad for Afcon:

Goalkeepers: George Chigova, Edmore Sibanda, Elvis Chipezeze.

Defenders: Tendayi Darikwa, Jimmy Dzingai, Divine Lunga, Teenage Hadebe, Alec Mudimu, Ronald Pfumbidzai.

Midfielders: Marshall Munetsi, Marvelous Nakamba, Danny Phiri, Ovidy Karuru, Kuda Mahachi, Talent Chawapihwa, Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona, Tafadzwa Kutinyu, Thabani Kamusoko.

Strikers: Nyasha Mushekwi, Tino Kadewere, Evans Rusike, Knox Mutizwa.
