Munetsi joins French Ligue 1 club

Marshall Munets has joined French Ligue 1side Stade de Reims.

The midfielder, who is currently with the Warriors in Egypt for Afcon, joins the European club from Orlando Pirates.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club can officially confirm the transfer of Marshall Munetsi to Stade de Reims,” the South African side confirmed on their website.

“With this move the Zimbabwean international becomes the second Pirates player this season to move overseas following Lyle Foster’s transfer to Monaco earlier this year.”

Munetsi joined the Buccaneers in 2016 from FC Cape Town but was sent on loan at Baroka FC that same season. Injuries dampened his campaign at the Limpopo side and made a few appearances.

He returned to Pirates ahead of the 2017/18 season but only made his first appearance in January 2018. Since then, the 22-year-old became a first team regular, and went on to attract interest from several oversees clubs.

Munetsi has followed in the footsteps of his countrymen Benjani Mwaruwari and Harlington Shereni who have played in the French Ligue 1.
