The Super Eagles of Nigeria’s coach Gernot Rohr has picked Warriors’ opponents in Group A, Egypt, among the favorites to lift the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Rohr believes the Pharaohs, Senegal and Tunisia are the frontrunners for Africa’s greatest football showpiece, which roars into life on 21 June.
“We are not the favourites to win it, the favourite is Egypt at home then the team number one in Africa is Senegal, then Tunisia,” Rohr told Goal.com
The 65-year-old believes a semi-final spot for Nigeria would be an achievement.
“We are number three in the rankings officially so we should go until the semi-final, now we focus on the first match against Burundi. All our focus is on this match then we will see how it can go on. Of course, we have to come out of this group.” he said
Nigeria play their opening game against Burundi on June 26.
