The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) needs €700 000 to screen the Africa Cup of Nations finals and is struggling to raise the amount, it has emerged.

CEO Patrick Mavhura confirmed the development in a meeting with Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Information, Media and Broadcast services on Thursday.

With the Warriors set to kick off their AFCON campaign against hosts Egypt tomorrow,  the national broadcaster is now unlikely to broadcast the tournament’s opener.

And failure to secure the funds, several football lovers across the country will be forced to look for other options to watch the 2019 AFCON.

Pay-TV DSTV is screening the games live on its SuperSport channels.

Meanwhile, kick-off time for tomorrow’s game is 10 pm Zimbabwean time.
