Devine Lunga heaped with praise for last night’s performance

Warriors left-back Devine Lunga has been hailed for his performance during Zimbabwe’s 1-0 loss to hosts Egypt in the opening game of AFCON 2019 last night.

The former Chicken Inn left-back man-marked Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah for most of the game and the Egyptian, whom many believe would play a crucial role, had very little impact on the game.

Prominent social media personality Ali Naka posted a hilarious message on Twitter congratulating the Golden Arrows defender for his performance last night: “Mo Salah’s salary is almost the size of Zimbabwe’s national budget yet Lunga made him look ordinary. EPL is overrated!” posted Naka.

Popular football website Goal.com described Lunga as “The defender who stopped Salah”.

In response to the praise, the 24-year-old said marking Salah was the task given to him by the coach.

“I feel great because the coach gave me a task today to mark Salah. He is a terrific guy and I was instructed to go with him if he cut inside on his stronger left foot, that was the task for today,” said Lunga according to Goal.
