Alvin Zhakata’s safety is on the line following an attempted coup in Ethiopia on Sunday which has left army boss, Gen Seare Mekonnen and his advisor dead.
Zhakata’s last reported location was in the East African country on his way to Egypt by road to support the Warriors during the Afcon tournament.
Following today’s ugly incident, concerns over the safety of the Warriors fan has emerged.
The attempted coup happened in Ethiopia’s northern Amhara region where Zhakata’s route to Sudan passes through.
Sudan is also affected by an ongoing war which casts further doubts on the safety of Zhakata who is expected to reach Egypt before the Warriors’ next game against Uganda on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Botha Msila who was with the Zimbabwean fan until he gave up on the road trip before reaching Ethiopia last weekend is already in Egypt after taking a flight from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
