Zim’s Afcon head of delegation speaks on Mahachi indiscipline

Zimbabwe’s head of delegation at Afcon Farai Jere has commented on the video by Kudakwashe Mahachi where he lashed out at coach Sunday Chidzambwa after being left out of the team.

Mahachi went live on Instagram a few hours before the match against Uganda on Wednesday and said that he was better off at his honeymoon than being on the bench at Afcon.

Jere says the team management is not going to take it lightly and will make a decision on the matter.

“We don’t take lightly to such levels of indiscipline in camp. We need to uphold high levels of discipline in camp, we have emphasised to the players, and if one goes public and complains about being left out of the team you are causing serious discomfort in the team, and we are not going to take that lightly,” said Jere, according to Chronicle.

“I was actually reading somewhere where players have been expelled from this tournament for indiscipline, but this is not to say we will do that on the young man even though we haven’t discussed it as team management. The coach, however, said he will welcome whatever decision is taken.”

Mahachi is likely to be fined as the management wants to keep all players in the camp at the tournament.

Meanwhile, the team will face DRC on Sunday in their final Group A encounter.
