South Africa coach Stuart Baxter says he is proud of his charges despite being knocked out of AFCON 2019 by the Super Eagles of Nigeria last night.

Bafana fell victim to a Trost-Ekong 89th minute winner but despite that, the Englishman feels his troops did well.

“The team worked as hard it could, the have done as well as many people thought they would do,” said Baxter.

“This is part of a process, we hadn’t been to AFCON for a long time, we came this time and played some of the best teams on the continent and we showed we can play with the best teams on the continent,” he added.
