FC Platinum interested in former striker Chinyengetere

FC Platinum are considering bringing back their former striker Rodwell Chinyengetere who is currently based in South Africa.

Chinyengetere left the Platinum Boys at the start of this year and joined Baroka FC in the ABSA Premiership after an impressive stint in Zvishavane.

He was named the Soccer Star of the Year in two successive campaigns and was the club’s leading scorer in 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The forward has, however, struggled to deliver at his new base and his former team is now negotiating to bring him back on loan until the end of the season.

FC Platinum media liaison Chido Chizondo confirmed to Zimpapers TV Network that talks are in progress between the two clubs.

“Yes, it is true we are negotiation a loan deal with Baroka, but nothing has materialised as yet,” she said.

Coach Norman Mapeza had admitted before that they have been finding it difficult to fill the void left by Chinyengetere.

“When Rodwell left, I knew we would get challenges, but at the end of the day, you don’t want to look down upon the guys left,” the coach said.

Meanwhile, FC Platinum have lost some key players in this mid-season transfer window including Kevin and Elvis Moyo who joined Chippa United while striker Mkokheli Dube quit football last month and moved to the USA.

Godknows Murwira is on his way back to Dynamos.
