Caf C.L and Confed Cup finals to be played over one leg

The Confederation of the African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the final of the two international club competitions will each be played in a single match on a neutral venue instead of a two-legged fixture.

The decision was made at an Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday in Cairo, and CAF president Ahmad Ahmad announced it on Social Media.

“Huge decision that Caf took today, the (finals) will be now played on a single game,” he said on Twitter without giving further details.

However, this model which is similar to that in Europe might not work in here Africa due to several issues.

These include poor transport infrastructure and a lack of budget airlines, and this brings a risk of playing the matches in empty stadiums.
