Date and venue set for Warriors CHAN camp

The Warriors are set to start camp on Monday ahead of the 2020 CHAN qualifiers against Mauritius this month end.

A total of 32 local-based players have been named in the preliminary squad and will begin the preparations after featuring in the weekend’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League games.

The camp is scheduled for Yadah Complex in Harare.

“The players will once again be camped at the Yadah Hotel complex, even though at first there were questions whether it would be availed for national duty because of the fire that gutted part of the complex,” Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare told The Herald.

“I had actually told my employers at ZIFA to look for alternative accommodation for the camp, but I have just spoken to the Prophet (Walter Magaya), who has indicated to me that, even though part of the complex was razed by a fire, he had already made contingency plans that a part of the hotel will be availed for the team.”

The first leg of the encounter will be played on July 28 away before returning home for the second fixture at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo on August 4.

Should Zimbabwe manage a victory in the encounter, they will face the winners of the match between South Africa and Lesotho in the final round of the qualifiers.
