FC Platinum maintains dominance over Chapungu as Chicken Inn keep pace at the top

FC Platinum stretched their dominance over Chapungu after posting a narrow 1-0 victory over their Midlands rivals on Saturday.

Lawrence Mhlanga scored the only goal of the match in the 12th minute. The Airforce side never showed any intention to score, managing just two efforts throughout the game despite holding a slight edge in the midfield.

The win put the Platinum Boys on 31 points, two ahead of second-placed Chicken Inn who also picked maximum points on the day.

The Gamecocks beat their city opponents Bulawayo Chiefs 2-0 at Luveve Stadium.

Defender Moses Jackson broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second half before Innocent Muchaneka killed the contest on minute 73.

The result, on the flip side, leaves Chiefs on the brink of returning to the bottom of the table. They are occupying 17th place with 11 points.

Elsewhere, Hwange and Herentals drew 2-2 in a match played in the capital at the National Sports Stadium.

Chipangano opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Shepherd Gahadzikwa and the Students equalised just after the half-hour courtesy of Blessing Maunganidze’s effort.

Tho hosts took the lead for the first time in the game early in the second half following an own goal by Ted Ncube.

Nomore Chinyerere, however, restored parity on the hour to make sure Hwange get away with a point.

Ngezi Platinum edged Black Rhinos 2-0 at Baobab Stadium while ZPC Kariba and Triangle United played to a goalless stalemate.
