Banyana Banyana put 17 past Comoros

The South African women national soccer team, Banyana Banyana, started off their COSAFA 2019 campaign on a record-breaking note when they thrashed a hapless Comoros by 17 goals to nil.

Desire Ellis’ charges sailed past the islanders with ease, with two players; captain Refiloe Jayne and Amanda Mthandi scoring hatricks.

The previous record of the biggest win in the tournament was held by the Mighty Warriors, who thumped Lesotho 15-0 in the 2002 edition.

In the another Group A game, Malawi beat Madagascar 2-0.
