Billiat’s agent plays down Sundowns link, reveals interest from Saudi Arabia

Speculation regarding Khama Billiat’s future continues to mount following a revelation that a Saudi team recently made an offer for the player.

The Zimbabwean winger has been linked with an exit at Kaizer Chiefs since returning from the 2019 Afcon tournament with the Warriors.

North African teams including Zamalek and Ah Alhy have enquired about the availability of the player while Angolan side Petro de Luanda reportedly made a mega offer to the 28-year old in a bid to lure him to the club.

But of late, it’s Mamelodi Sundowns who have emerged the front-runners to the signature of the player.

Speaking on SA FM on Wednesday night, Billiat’s agent Mike Ngobeni, however, denied knowledge of Sundowns’ interest but confirmed enquires from North Africa and Saudi Arabia.

“Yes, there were two offers from Egypt and Casablanca also made an offer. There was also one from Saudi Arabia,” Ngobeni said on the radio, according to The Citizen.

“But we work differently. We work for the player. Khama is not ready to leave Chiefs and he told me he wants to spend another season with them. He wants to win something with Chiefs. So we can’t force him into anything he doesn’t want.”

Billiat joined Chiefs last season on a free transfer after his contract with Sundowns had expired.
