Kaitano Tembo’s SuperSport United in stern Sundowns test

The 2019-20 ABSA Premiership season roars into life with an eplosive Pretoria derby on the cards when defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns host SuperSport United at the Lukas Moripe Stadium this afternoon.

Masandawana, the most succesful side in the hitlstory of the South African league, lost to Kaitano Tembo’s side 2-0 when they last met in April last year but today’s encounter is of a different magnitude.

The Zimbabwean coach will be hoping countryman and new acquisition Kuda Mahachi will be at his best in enermy territory, a place where Masandawana rarely lose.

Head-to-head wise, SuperSport  and Sundowns have met in 56 league matches since 1990. The Brazilians have dominated the rivalry, claiming 29 wins compared to 15 for Matsatsantsa, while 12 games have been drawn. The team in yellow have managed 12 wins from 28 home matches in the rivalry, suffering 10 defeats in the process.
