Lukaku explains why he joined Inter

Romelu Lukaku became the third most expensive player bought by a Serie A club after a £73m-move to Inter Milan on Thursday.

The striker left Manchester United after two seasons having fell out of favour since the arrival of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the previous campaign.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to another Serie A side – Juventus – earlier in the transfer window but opted to sign a five-year contract with Inter.

In his first interview with the club on Thursday, Lukaku explained why he decided to join the Nerazzurri.

“Inter were the only club I wanted,” Lukaku told their official website. “I’m here to bring the Nerazzurri back to the top.”

Meanwhile, the Belgian left Old Trafford with 42 goals in 96 matches for United after joining from Everton for £75m in July 2017.
