Pochettino comments on Aston Villa signings

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has commented on Premier League returnees Aston Villa’s big spending in the transfer windown ahead of their meeting in the opening weekend of the Premier League today.

Aston Villa were some of the biggest spenders in the recenty-closed transfer window, spending £144.5 million on transfers including that of Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba, who arrived at Villa Park from Club Brugge for a reported £12 million.

Pochettino however warned the Dean Smith-coached of the dangers of spending that much.

“Of course, Aston Villa have signed a lot of players, they are in the top three or four in the Premier League for how much they have spent. An amazing investment, but always it is not easy.” he said according to Birmingham Mail.

“Look what happened with Fulham last season and how much they invested. The most important for the coach is to have time to build the team. You invest a lot of money on players, but the most important thing is about making that work together.” he added.

The two sides clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today at 17:30pm.
