ZIFA releases statement on Mighty Warriors’ COSAFA campaign

The country’s football governing body, ZIFA, has released  a statement in connection with the Mighty Warriors and Young Mighty Warriors’s COSAFA  2019 campaigns.

The Mighty Warriors took bronze by clinching third in the regional showpiece while the Under 20s finished 4th and the association recognizes both teams’ efforts.

“The Zimbabwe  Foootball Association  would like to congratulate  the Senior Women’s team  (Mighty Warriors) and U-20 Women’s teams for clinching bronze and 4th position respectively at the just ended COSAFA Women’s Championship.

“The women’s  teams have done us proud and the association will continue to make strides to empower and emancipate the girl child through prioritizing their participation in competitions despite a shoe string budget we operate under and the general harsh economic environment.

“Both teams have since  left Port Elizabeth by road and they will connect to Harare from Johannesburg  by air tomorrow (Tuesday).

“The Mighty Warriors will rest a bit before commencing preparations for the 2020 Olympics qualifiers against Zambia later this month,” read the statement.
