Zifa expells Chiwanza from Executive Committee

Zifa has expelled Chamu Chiwanza from the executive committee.

Chiwanza, an ally of former president Philip Chiyangwa, was found guilty of fraud and bringing local football into disrepute.

The administrator was on suspension since July after the association accused him of sabotage which resulted in national team players striking during the Afcon 2019.

A statement posted on Zifa’s official website reads: “The Zimbabwe Football Association disciplinary met on the 14th of August 2019 and deliberated on a matter involving Executive Committee Member Rodrick Chamunorwa Chiwanza.

“Mr Chiwanza was found guilty in respect of two charges of fraud and bringing the game of football into disrepute.

“Consequently, the Disciplinary Committee verdict is that Mr Chiwanza be expelled from being an Executive Committee member with immediate effect.”

Chiwanza’s expulsion follows after Zifa handed life bans to Chiyangwa and ex-vice president Omega Sibanda.
