Mushowani in serious financial crisis, club on the verge of collapse

Premiership debutants Mushowani Stars are facing a serious financial crisis which has seen the players going for four months without receiving their salaries.

The Mashonaland West-based side has been operating on a small budget since the beginning of the season, and it’s on the verge of collapsing.

Club owner Lovemore Nyakasoka has now made a distress call for a bailout package to save the team from folding.

“Winning Premiership promotion was one step towards our goal,” said Nyakasoka, according to The Chronicle. “We thought we would see even much better things coming on the way, but it has taken a financial toll on us.

“I can tell you that, for four months, the players haven’t received their salaries or bonuses. It is so stressful.

“We are on the verge of collapsing. We would have wanted to keep Bindura on the football map but, as it stands, we might not be able to finish the season.”

Mushowani recently got relief after moving to Bindura following the PSL’s approval to use Trojan Stadium. The team had spent a large amount of many travelling to Harare for their home games.
