Rude awakening for Gumbo and Dodo as they suffer defeats in first games in charge

Darlington Dodo and Rahman Gumbo got a rude awakening in their first games in charge of their respective teams.

Dodo’s CAPS United lost 4-2 to Chapungu with their former player Denver Mukamba causing all sorts of trouble as he created two goals for the Air force side.

Chapungu broke the deadlock as early as in the 3rd minute through Gracious Muleya who headed home a cross from Mukamba.

Newman Sianchali restored the parity on the 20th minute but the hosts responded ten minutes later with two quick goals from Philip Marufu and Ian Nyoni.

CAPS United tried to come back into the game before the break but only managed to reduce the deficit to 3-2 after Clive Rupiya pulled another one back on minute 41.

Marufu killed the contest later in the match as he completed his brace with six minutes to the clock.

The result means the Green Machine failed to move to the summit of the table as they remain on 34 points, one behind log leaders FC Platinum.

Gumbo’s TelOne suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of ZPC Kariba as the defeat marked the gaffer’s disastrous return to the PSL.

Elsewhere, Bulawayo Chiefs beat Black Rhinos 1-0 while Ngezi Platinum and Hwangwe played to a 1-1 draw.

Results:
Chapungu 4-2 Caps United
Ngezi Platinum 1-1 Hwange
Yadah 1-1 Herentals
ZPC Kariba 3-0 Telone
Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 Black Rhinos
