Warriors legend Grobbelaar unveils Liverpool’s first academy in COSAFA region

Warriors legend Bruce Grobbelaar on Saturday officially unveiled his former club Liverpool’s first international academy in the COSAFA region.

The facility is located in Mauritius and according to BBC Sport, it was launched in partnership with the country’s Sports and Youth Ministry.

The unveiling was done along with the EPL side’s Vice President of International Academies Dan White and the Mauritius Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth.

Recruitment of players and coaches is underway, and a wide range of year-round programmes are planned to begin next month.

The implementation and development of the coaching programme will be supervised by LFC coaching staff, headed by Mauritius-based Neil Murphy.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also set up a similar academy in Egypt making Mauritius the second country in Africa to have such facility.
