Warriors W.C qualifier against Somalia in doubt after a garnishee order on Zifa account

The Warriors might fail to fulfil their World Cup qualifier against Somalia next week after a garnishee order was placed on ZIFA accounts on Friday.

The order comes after a former employee at the association, Lazarus Mhurushomana approached the courts, seeking to recover a compensation package of $518,331.81 which he says is still owed following his dismissal in 2004.

ZIFA have until Monday to pay the money.

According to ZimLive.com, the local football body’s boss Felton Kamambo said the development could disrupt planning for crucial games involving the national senior men’s team and the Under 23s who are both in action next weekend.

“It appears like it’s a deliberate ploy to handicap ZIFA because we were planning to buy air tickets for the Warriors and the Young Warriors as well as paying the allowances for the Mighty Warriors for their Olympic qualifier against Zambia,” Kamambo said.

Zimbabwe play Somalia in Djibouti in the first leg of a 2022 World Cup preliminary round qualifier, while the Young Warriors travel to South Africa for an Under 23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
