FC Platinum back on top as Triangle stumble again

FC Platinum returned to the top of the table after beating Herentals 2-0 in a rescheduled league encounter played at National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Platinum Boys are now on 39 points, thanks to goals from Albert Eonde and Rodwell Chinyengetere.

The match had a cagey start with the first real chance coming in the 14th minute and resulted in the first goal. The opportunity came from a corner-kick by Never Tigere and was finished off by Eonde.

The Students tried to respond in the following moments but were failing to keep the ball flowing as FC Platinum dictated the pace until the break.

Despite showing signs of improvement in the second period, Herentals could not restore the parity, and they conceded another goal from a set-piece on minute 73 when Chinyengetere headed in Tigere’s corner-kick.

The scoreline remained unchanged as FC Platinum returned to winning ways.

At Gibbo, Triangle United suffered their second successive defeat, losing 2-1 to Black Rhinos.

Melvin Mekiwa and Francesco Zekumbawire were on target in the first half for the visitors while Russell Madamombe’s late strike gave consolation to the Sugar Boys.
