Mapeza bemoans lack of squad depth at FC Platinum

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza feels his squad has lacked the depth to cover for absences to key players in their recent matches.

Despite making some signings in the mid-season transfer window, Mapeza has of late been missing some regular players due to injuries and suspensions.

The Platinum Boys are in the title race, and they moved to the top of the table on Sunday following a 2-0 victory over Herentals in a rescheduled fixture.

Speaking after the game, Mapeza said: “We don’t have depth at all, if you guys can’t see that, then well I don’t know. We have to work and see how the season progresses.

“It was about results today. We were missing about ten of our regular players through injuries, suspensions and national team duties.”

FC Platinum got their goals from Albert Eonde and substitute Rodwell Chinyengetere in either half. The Zvishavane-based is now on 39 points after 22 games.
