Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF interclub competitions fared well in the games played over the weekend.

In Champions League, FC Platinum beat UD Songo 1-0 in the first leg of the first round encounter at Barbourfields Stadium. Never Tigere scored the solitary goal in the 21st minute.

Triangle United also picked a 1-0 win in their match against Azam of Tanzania in the Confederation Cup, thanks to a first-half strike by Ralph Kawondera.

Elsewhere, Zambia-based Zimbabwean duo of Tafadzwa Rusike and Thabani Kamusoko were both on target for their respective teams in the CAF competitions.

Kumusoko struck late in the game to hand Zesco United a 1-1 away draw against his former Tanzanian side Yanga SC.

Rusike converted a penalty in the first half as his ZANACO side beat Mauritian club Bolton 2-1.
