CAPS United back on top at expense of Chitembwe

CAPS United moved back to the top of the table after edging out Harare City which is now coached by their former boss Lloyd Chitembwe.

The Green Machine won the match 1-0 despite creating several good chances, especially in the first half.

They took the lead in the 6th minute through Newman Sianchali who fired home from inside the box. The striker could have secured his brace towards the hour mark but was denied from point-blank by Maxwell Nyamupanedengu.

Phineas Bamusi and Hardlife Zvirekwi also caused some trouble coming from the flanks.

City, on their side, had their moments when they took the game to their opponents but could not get beyond the CAPS United backline.

The second half saw the play getting concentrated in the midfield and goalmouth incidents were few and far between.

The match ended in favour of Makepekepe who moved to 41 points while Harare City remained in the bottom half on 13th position.

Across the capital at National Sports Stadium, Bulawayo Chiefs continued their rise, beating Yadah 2-0.

The Ninjas scored in both goals after the break through Shadreck Nyahwa on minute 55 and an own-goal twenty minutes later.

They are now just two points away from escaping from the relegation zone.
