Chicken Inn, FC Platinum blow chance to close gap on top

FC Platinum have dropped points for the third successive time and blew a chance to close the gap with leaders CAPS United.

The Platinum Boys played to a goalless draw at ZPC Kariba in a match-day 25 encounter played on Saturday.

They remain in the 3rd position with 42 points.

The match started on a slow pace with the first real chance coming in the visitors’ way on the 10th minute when Perfect Chikwende’s shot went straight to the hands of the keeper.

ZPC Kariba also reached the target on the other end a few moments later, but Nigel Makumbe’s effort was saved.

The play slowed down again and became a little more physical as both sides conceded a couple of fouls. Never Tigere, however, was the only one to be booked during that spell when he roughed former team-mate Ian Nekati.

The forward along with William Stima went on to create chances towards the break, but their strikes didn’t trobled the keeper who collected them with ease.

The second half failed to produce any spark and no meaningful opportunity was created. Stima’s 80th-minute effort which was saved by the keeper was the only time either side came closest on goal after the interval.

At Luveve Stadium, second-placed Chicken Inn came from behind and secured a 1-1 draw against Chapungu.

The Airforce side took the lead from the spot in the 17th minute before Tichaona Chipunza also from a penalty kick later in the second half.

Yadah picked themselves up from the bottom of the log and moved one place up to 17th position after edging Ngezi Platinum Stars 1-0.

Godknows Mangani scored the winner from a free-kick in the 75th minute.

Results:
ZPC Kariba 0-0 FC Platinum
Yadah 1-0 Ngezi Platinum
Chicken Inn 1-1 Chapungu
