Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Jose Mourinho turned down the offer to become their new coach because he has already found another club.
The Portuguese gaffer is yet to return to football management after leaving Manchester United almost a year ago.
The Ligue 1 side had hoped to take him on board following the sacking of Sylvinho on Monday.
However, Aulas has said that the ex-Chelsea and Inter man turned them down on account of having another job lined up.
“We had some fairly flattering exchanges over text,” Aulas stated, according to Get French Football. “It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club.”
Further reports suggest Mourinho wants to find a job in England rather than moving to France, as his family is still based there following his time at Old Trafford and Chelsea.
He has been linked with joining Tottenham while a return to Manchester could also happen.
