Mapeza’s salary at Chippa revealed

Norman Mapeza might have ‘walked into the Lions’ den’ by being apointed Chippa United coach according to some fans, but financially, the former Warriors midfielder will reportedly be one of the highest paid coaches in the ABSA Premiership.

The 47-year-old tactician signed a three year-deal at the Port Elizabeth-based outfit, a club whose chairman Siviwe Mpengesi’s no hesitation when it comes to sacking coaches in well-documented, but reports suggest that the role of coach at the Chilli Boys is one of the most attractive financially.

According to South African publication Kick Off, Mapeza will only be behind Mamelodi Sundowns’ Pitso Mosimane and Bidvest Wits’s Gavin Hunt, who take home between R600 000 to R800 000 a month excluding bonuses.

The publication further alleges that Mapeza will be taking home between R350 000 to R450 000 monthly, making him one of the highest paid coaches in the South African top division.
