Ngezi, Dynamos share spoils as FC Platinum close gap

Dynamos registered their fifth straight league draw after playing out to a goalless stalemate against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab Stadium on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys had Simba Chinani to thank after making some brilliant saves to keep the visitors in the game.

The play started on a slow pace with both sides struggling to maintain possession for long.

Tichaona Mabvura was the first to get an opportunity on goal but went wide in the 10th minute. Donald Teguru followed up moments later, but he also failed to reach for the target.

Dynamos’ first real chance came on the 20th-minute mark from Evans Katema, who was returning from an injury, but the long-range effort headed wide.

Chinani then made two successive saves just before the break, denying Kelvin Bulaji twice. He also saved Wayne Makuva’s shot early in the second half as Ngezi looked to break the deadlock.

Edward Sadomba and Tatenda Muringai had opportunities falling on their way at the other end, but they were not good enough to open the scoring.

Ngezi took the game to the visitors deep in the second half and created three glorious chances, but they never brought any change.

Qadr Amini came up first and his header was superbly stopped by the keeper. James Nguluve missed the target from point-blank while Frank Makarati wasted his opportunity on the stroke of full-time.

The result stretched Dembare’s winless record at Baobab Stadium.

Elsewhere, FC Platinum moved into second place and within two points behind leader CAPS United after beating Yadah 3-1.

The Platinum Boys got their goals from Kelvin Madzongwe (20′), Perfect Chikwende 45′) and Rodwell Chinyengetere (52′) who scored from the spot.

Yadah secured their consolation in the 85th minute through Honey Chimutimunzeve.

Harare City edged out Mushowani 3-2 while the game between Black Rhinos and Chicken Inn ended in a goalless draw.
