Opinion: Dynamos winless run -Is the problem tactical, institutional or attitudinal?

Harare giants Dynamos have gone for five consecutive games without a win in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer, a situation which has largely disapointed their ever-demanding faithful.

Not only has the jinx upset fans of the ‘Glamour Boys’, it has also seen their slim title hopes fade in the process.

An interplay of several reasons have been attributed to explain the team’s failure to collect maximun points since the 3-2 win over Herentals on the 28th of August.

One of the reasons mainly pointed out is the current crop of players’ “unwillingness to defend the Dynamos badge with their lives”. Some fans believe the class of 2019 differs from that of 1998, the Champions League runners up and Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga’s 2002 “kidznet” in their attitude and not knowing what it is to don the famous blue and white jersey.

Another subscribed reason for the jinx is in coach Tonderai Ndiraya’s tactical approach. Ndiraya can justify his tactics nonetheless, if two factors are taken into consideration; the team is drawing not losing and that he is working with largely players he did not recruit.

The DeMbare leadership’s method of recruitment when it comes to players is also a factor to consider when attempting to unpack the cause of recent results. The football reality is simple; if you don’t score goals you don’t win matches. Therefore, the institution’s failure to compete on the market for strikers who can mount a title challenge by scoring week in week out, cannot be downplayed.

Whether or not it is far-fetched to conclude that a crisis is looming at Dynamos, one can surely question what the actual reason is for their stuggle to win matches; is the reason(s) tactical, institutional or attitudinal?
