Kaizer Chiefs advance to Telkom Knock Out quarter-finals

Kaizer Chiefs are through to the Telkom Knock Out last eight after a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Cape Town City.

The two sides had played out a 1-1 draw after  90 minutes and extra time with Benny McCathy’s men opening the scoring in the  34th minute through Kermit Erasmus.

Amakhosi could have levelled matters from the spot on the hour mark but Daniel Cardoso  skied his effort over the bar much to the disbelief of those in gold and black.

They eventually equalized in the 83rd minute through Samir Nurkovic, who scored to send the game into extra time.

Extra time came and went by but it could not seperate the two teams and just like last night in the Bidvest Wits-Maritzburg United game, the penalty shoot-out was required.

Cardoso, Khama Billlat, Leonardo Castro and Mathotho scored for Chiefs in the lottery to eventually go through 4-2.
