Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare has clarified the passport issues within the Warriors squad ahead of next month’s Afcon qualifiers.

National team coach Joey Antipas named his provisional line-up on Wednesday for the games against Botswana and Zambia on the 15th and 19th of November respectively.

However, questions were quickly raised after some players without local passports were included in the team.

The majority of these stars were born outside the country and regularising their papers has taken too long.

Speaking on ZTN programme, The Couch, Mpandare said he was hopeful of getting the process done before the games.

“We have players with challenges with their passports – Macauley Bonne and Adam Chicksen – they are still to get their documents,” he said.

“We hope the relevant ministry (Home Affairs) will help us this time around so that the players get their passports before next month’s games.”

The team manager also explained the issue of Swansea full-back Tivonge Rushesha and Bournemouth defender Jordan Zemura.

The duo is part of the provisional selection, but their case is a bit different from that of Bonne and Chicksen.

Both of the stars are holders of local passports, but the documents have expired.

And Mpandare believes it will not take long to sort out the papers.

“They have Zimbabwean passports, but they are expired, and we think it won’t be difficult to renew them.

“It hasn’t been easy, but we believe the relevant ministry will help us sort out the documents,” said Mpandare.
