We should have burried CAPS in the first half: Antipas

Ugly scenes erupted at Babourfields Stadium yesterday as CAPS United players and officials felt hard done by the referee’s decision to award Chicken Inn a penalty which turned out to be the match winner.

The man in the middle pointed to the spot in the 73rd minute after Chicken Inn forward Obriel Chirinda was adjudged to have been brought down by CAPS goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaunga in the box.

After a six-minute delay in which the Green Machine players protested, the spot kick was finally taken; Passmore Bernard converting but despite the controversy, Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas believes his side could have taken their chances in the first half and burry CAPS.

“It was good to collect all three points. Of course, it’s just 1-0, but it gets us back into the title race,” Antipas said after the game according to The Herald.
