Mapeza hints at adding a few Zim players in his Chippa squad

Norman Mapeza has hinted at adding a few Zimbabweans in his Chippa United squad.

The gaffer who joined the club early in the month is not impressed with current selection and is looking to beef it up in the January transfer window.

There are two Zimbabwean players already in the Chippa team – twin brothers Elvis and Kevin Moyo.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Mapeza said: “Things are going to be difficult here, we need to bring in new faces. It’s clear, we need to bring in new faces,” Mapeza said.

“I have to be honest with you. I didn’t come here to perform miracles. I’m a football coach, and I know this terrain. If things don’t go well, for me as a coach you either resign or you get fired.

“We have to look for new players, but for now we have to work with what we have until December,” he revealed.

“We have been talking about maybe getting some players on loan, maybe in the first division. If it means bringing one or two guys from Zimbabwe, I have to do that because upfront we need people who can score goals.”

Mapeza took charge of his first match two weeks ago and won 1-0 against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout. He then lost to Highlands Park 2-0 in the league in his second encounter played over the weekend.
