Triangle United look to save Confed Cup campaign

Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Triangle United will be hoping to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou in the second leg of the Play-offs encounter.

The Sugar Boys had remained unbeaten until the reverse fixture played in the West African country last weekend. They now have an uphill task to save their campaign and a convincing triumph on Sunday will see them reaching the group stage.

Speaking ahead of the match, coach Taurai Mangwiro remained optimistic his side will progress through, judging from the performance from the first leg.

“From what we saw in the first leg, I can assure you that we still have a chance,” said the coach, according to the Chronicle. “We were the better side even though we lost. We managed to create numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

“We will get a lot of encouragement from the number of good opportunities that we got and hope that we continue creating and perfecting our conversion,”

The match will be played tomorrow at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo. Kick-off is at 3 pm.
