Macauley Bonne finally gets his Zim passport

Macauley Bonne has secured his local passport after several years of making efforts to regularise his Zimbabwean citizenship.

The UK-born striker had tried to get the document since his first appearance for the national team back in November 2017. The process dragged and had to make another submission in May with a hope of going to the 2019 Afcon.

However, new government laws made it impossible for him to get the passport without first renouncing his UK citizenship.

Following the intervention of Minister of Sport Kirsty Coventry a few weeks ago, the Charlton Athletic striker has finally received the papers.

Bolton Wanderers fullback Adam Chicksen who made his first appearance for the Warriors in March 2018 has also received his passport.

Chicksen, however, was dropped from the squad that will do duty in the Afcon qualifiers next week.
